Noble Grand Letter April 2009

Brethren,
Greetings brothers, another month in Odd Fellowship and we have much to complete. First, I would like to thank all who have help with the Blood Drives. This last one was the 7th drive our lodge has helped put on within the last year. We collected 53 pints of blood in this last drive, which could save over 150 lives. Everyone that has taken part has made this very successful. One other brother and I have been asked to attend the Red Cross volunteer diner. As well as our order being nominated for a regional award for are help with the American Red Cross. Finally, I would like thank every brother again that is helped with the events.
Second, for this month we have a few events, some of which will take everyone helping out to accomplish. We will continue the Odd Fellow Bingo Night at the Oaks Nursing Home second Thursdays at 6:45 – 8:30. Also, we will have the First Day of Fishing Season Odd Fellow Breakfast on the morning of the 18th. We will need everyone to help on this one event for it to be successful. This event will not only bring some funds into the lodge, it will help get our name out there. In the upcoming months will be focusing on recruitment. Also, a reminder that, the brother that brings in the most new members Bellefonte Encampment will pay your dues for next year. For all of this will need everyone giving their best for the lodge. I hope to see you all at the next meeting.

Nobel Grand Letter February 2009

Brethren,

Greetings, I hope everyone is doing well. As we move into the next month, we have gotten much done, and yet we have a great deal to accomplish.  Odd Fellowship, in PA is growing, and our state is not alone. I am pleased to see our new members at regular meetings and hope to see you all at future meetings. If you no longer come to meetings, think about coming again.  I am a firm believer that every member, whom is of a moral and just mind, has some gift that they offer to the order. Working together we shall make this order great.

First, a reminder that we be having two blood drives. On January 29th, at the Oakwood Presbyterian Church near the Texas Roadhouse, volunteers needed from 11:30am to 6:45 pm, the canteen will be sponsored by the Outback Steak House. Another Blood Drive on the 30th, volunteers needed from 9:30 to 4:30 at the United Methodist Church in Lemont, just after the bridge, that cross the bypass going in from Atherton. For this drive, we could use food donation, please let me know if you can provide them, or any Rebekahs could, would be most thankful. Secondly, we will be conferring the three odd fellow degrees on Saturday the 7th, starting at 9am at Centre Lodge. If you do know have your degrees, please plan to attend, food will be provide. Everyone who does have their degrees, please come to rally in our new brethren to the 3rd degree of Odd Fellowship. This rally was moved from its original date of the 24th of January, in State College, as planed before the year, due to a conflict and lack of communication on their part. Also, the second Thursday of the month at 6:45-8:30, will be continuing to have Odd Fellow Bingo Night at the Oaks Nursing Home. Furthermore, school of instruction every last Wednesday of the month at State College Lodge at 7:30, please come out to better learn your parts within odd fellows.  Lastly, shirts are in, come to the service events or the next meeting to pick up your Centre Lodge, Odd Fellow  shirt. The only cost I ask is that wear it, at events and meetings.

In close, I would like to thank the brothers that have work hard to help this lodge. Some beyond all expectations, you know who you are; I am honored to have privilege to call you brother. Let us all, pledge to accept nothing but our very best and we will watch this order grow.

Noble Grand Letter January 2009

Brothers,
the New Year is upon us and Penn State is off to the Rose Bowl. Every year, since 1908, Odd Fellow and Rebekahs have entered a float in the Rose Bowl Parade.  This year Odd Fellow float’s theme is “Going to the Fair.” Odd Fellows has a long history, doing good for others, giving back to their community, and supporting one another. Sure Odd Fellows has changed over the years, as society has changed, but the values and principles have and must remain the same. We don’t do charity for credit or reward, but for simple joy of helping others. Hopefully we will inspire others to do the same and join us.
In the upcoming month we will have several volunteer opportunities. First, we are planning to continue helping out at the local food bank. The Faith Centre Food Bank was really thankful for our help, and will need volunteers in the coming New Year. Secondly, the next Blood Drive will be held Jan 29th; people needed 11:45am to 6:30pm, at the Oakwood Presbyterian Church (Located near the Texas Road House). The drive will be catered by the Outback Steakhouse. Another Blood Drive will be held at the United Methodist Church in Lemont, Jan 30th volunteers needed 9:30am to 4:30pm. I will also need help for this drive recruiting before the event. As well as food donations needed/welcome for this drive. Finally, second Thursday, we will have the Odd Fellow Bingo Night at the Oaks Nursing Home, 6:45 to 8:30.
In close, I would like to thank all the members that have participated in events past, and hope more will in future.  Hope everyone had a great holiday, a Marry Christmas, and very happy New Year
